What it is
French maritime pine bark extract comes from the bark of Pinus pinaster. Commercial extracts can be standardized for procyanidins, polyphenols built from catechin and epicatechin units. Smaller constituents such as catechin, caffeic acid and ferulic acid are absorbed directly, while the larger procyanidins are broken down by gut bacteria into absorbable metabolites.†
